Performance Health / Hygenic Corporation Donates Biofreeze Pain Reliever to US Troops

Performance Health / Hygenic Corporation has made a donation of Biofreeze Pain Reliever, at a retail value of $1.2 million, to SupportOurTroops.Org. Donations to Support Our Troops are used to bring aid and comfort to US troops in the field.

“The values of this great nation generate the patriotism that inspires people and companies to step up like this for the troops,” says Martin C. Boire, Chairman of SupportOurTroops.Org. “These troops carry at lot more on their shoulders than very heavy backpacks. When you’re carrying a responsibility as big as America on your shoulders, you’re bound to get sore muscles, and the relief they’ll receive from a product like Biofreeze is going to be greatly appreciated. On behalf of the troops, we thank and commend Performance Health for their unsolicited contribution.”

“When considering where to make this product donation, our troops were at the top of the list. We are honored to be able to support them and are grateful for their dedication and sacrifice,” stated Jeff Mathers, Product Manager-Biofreeze for Performance Health / Hygenic Corporation. “We hope this donation provides relief for those suffering with aches and pains as a result of their physically challenging commitment. Thera-Band Academy Helps Raise Research Funds for Foundation for Physical Therapy

Akron, Ohio – May 10, 2010 – Partnering with several physical therapy and physical therapist assistant schools in the U.S., the Thera-Band Academy supported ten continuing education seminars entitled, Beyond Bands: Evidence-Based Progression of Elastic and Proprioceptive Exercises. The workshops were used as fundraisers for students, with most of the money being donated to the Miami-Marquette Challenge for the Foundation for Physical Therapy.

“The one-day workshop was developed to help support evidence-based practice with readily available equipment like resistance bands and exercise balls, while emphasizing immediate clinical applications based on the latest research from around the world,” stated Phil Page, PhD, PT, ATC, CSCS, director of clinical education and research for the Thera-Band Academy. “We are very happy to have helped raise over $20,000 through the schools. Our partner schools did a great job in providing both education and supporting research. Over 75% of the attendees noted that the workshop ‘exceeded’ their expectations, allowing us to believe that this was a win-win situation.”

Page continued, “In addition, the program provided exposure for the Thera-Band Academy and what we do. The Academy’s web site, www.Thera-BandAcademy.com, connects healthcare professionals and consumers to the ever growing body of research, protocols and exercise.”
